Dear colleagues and students,
We have gone through a period which changed our working and personal lives. This period turned our daily routine upside down and changed comfort into an unexpected challenge. In my opinion, you are as happy as I am to be able to slowly return to the normal operation. To personal contacts with fellow students, colleagues, and to the background we are accustomed to.
This is the right time to say thank you. I would like to thank all of you for your patience and work out of the common run.
I greatly appreciate the engagement of students and employees who actively work in the first line - in hospitals and in healthcare and social institutions, who analysed samples helping the Pardubice Hospital to speed up medical examinations. I want to thank those who, while being at home in quarantine, made protective shields and face masks for medical staff and senior people, baked pastry for rescuers, nurses and firemen or helped them in any other way.
Thank teachers for their patience and effort in organizing distance learning, all the university employees for their willingness and involvement in keeping the university and the halls of residence in the working condition during the pandemic. Thank students who manage their studies during this unusual semester in their home environment showing a great degree of flexibility and independence. The ability to adapt to the new circumstances is a valuable experience for all of us.
We succeeded in overcoming the unexpected situation. Thank you.
I am convinced that to look ahead is equally important as to look back. We will remind the 70th anniversary of the university founding this year. In my opinion, we have a good reason to celebrate and I strongly believe that we will celebrate together, despite not right now but in a few months.
Let me wish you all the best and good health.
prof. Jiří Málek, Rector
