The ambition of the University of Pardubice is to create a friendly, tolerant and respectful environment without any form of discrimination. This also involves the emphasis on creating a culture of equal opportunities and promoting gender equality.

That is why the 2022-2025 Gender Equality Strategy of the University of Pardubice was adopted in 2022; the strategy was designed specifically for the University of Pardubice on the basis of a gender audit carried out in 2021. The Gender Equality Strategy defines specific objectives and measures to deal with gender equality in a systematic way during the respective period.

The HRS4R (“The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers”) Action Plan incorporates the principles of the Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers of the European Commission, which the University of Pardubice endorses as an institution that was granted the HR Award, an international certificate for standardization of HR conditions, in October 2021, and that aims to support equal opportunities of women and men in university education, research, development, governance and HR development.

The University of Pardubice also refers to the principles of equal opportunities, gender equality and non-discrimination in many of its fundamental documents (e.g. the 2021+ Strategic Plan of the University of Pardubice, the Science and Research Action Plan, the Code of Ethics of the University of Pardubice).

In practical terms, the ambitions in the area of equal opportunities are reflected in the emphasis on work-life balance (see a special section under the SAFE UPCE tab), promotion of gender-sensitive culture at the University of Pardubice and interest in the situation of female researchers.

We have already organized webinars such as Gender-sensitive communication in academia or Gender-sensitive teaching for academic staff. More talks and seminars on equal opportunities are scheduled for 2024. The University of Pardubice will also participate in events in February 2024 on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to underline the importance of female researchers.
