The University of Pardubice recognizes that working in the academia is demanding in terms of the time and energy invested by employees into the performance of their duties as well many additional activities. Therefore, it may be challenging for employees, especially in certain stages of their lives, to strike a work-life balance while maintaining physical and mental well-being. In the long run, the University of Pardubice aims to create such working conditions that make it possible to reconcile work and life, and remove any barriers. Such ambitions focus primarily on employees with small children, but do not omit other employees since good work-life balance is important for all employees.
In the past, specific measures have been implemented to help with work-life balance such as installation of changing tables at 5 locations in the university campus. There is also an ongoing debate on how to create space for short-term or long-term child care for employees.
A new Policy to support parents on maternity and parental leave at the University of Pardubice called "Maternity and Paternity Leave Management" introduces family-friendly processes especially with respect to parents of small children.
Last but not least, the University of Pardubice organizes regular events for children of their employees. In addition to the University Day for Children organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sport, which was very successful, there will be a St Nicholas event bringing together university employees and their children during the Christmas time.
