eng	At the Cultural Crossroads: ?Mixed-Bloods? in Native American Fiction	This paper attempts to discuss the difficulties inherent in the situation of a person of mixed Native American and Euro-American descend by analyzing several mixed-blood characters in selected Native American novels. Starting with the protagonist of Mourning Dove?s novel ?Cogewea?, some of the pressing issues of people of mixed descend, such as the search for identity, acceptance of both white and Native American heritage, and dilemma in making fundamental life decisions, are outlined. Two characters from Louise Erdrich?s novels ?Love Medicine? and ?Tracks? illustrate the dilemma in spiritual quest and the healing effect of positive acceptance of one?s roots. The paper concludes with a protagonist of ?The Crown of Columbus?, a novel co-authored by Louise Erdrich and Michael Dorris.
