Professor Fusek is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Králové and the Military Medical Research and Training Institute of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Hradec Králové. He successfully completed his studies in 1968. In 1973 he achieved a first-degree attestation, in 1974 he defended the title CSc. in the field of pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University, in 1990 he obtained the title of Doctor of Medical Science in the field of pharmacology at the Czechoslovakian Academy of Sciences, Prague, in 1991 he was appointed Professor of Pharmacology at the Military Medical Academy in Hradec Králové, and finally in 1999 he was awarded the title dr.h.c. at the Military Medical Academy of Łódź (Poland).
His scientific professional specialisation involves solving research projects of home grant agencies as well as the foreign ones in the field of experimental and clinical pharmacology, toxicology, radiopharmacy, emergency and disaster medicine. He has been lecturing on the above-mentioned topics to students of the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice and Faculty of Military Health Sciences of the University of Defence. He is author or co-author of 97 publications with impact factor, has 950 citations in WoS, and H index 16.
He is a member of the subject advisory boards of doctoral study programmes Pharmacology, Toxicology, Psychiatry and Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacology of Charles University in Hradec Králové. Faculty of Military Health Sciences of the University of Defence, and Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia. He was a supervisor to seven doctoral students in the fields of pharmacology and toxicology, all of which successfully finished their study.
Since 2010 he has been an academic employee of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pardubice at the Department of Clinical Subspecialities, he has been giving lectures to students of bachelor study programmes Radiological Assistance and Paramedicine, in the follow-up master study programmes Nursing with specialisations Perioperative Care in Surgery, Gynaecology, and Midwifery, and in Internal Medicine. He further lectures in the study programme General Medicine and Dentistry at the Faculty of Military Health Sciences of the University of Defence.
His hobbies involve reading historical literature, sightseeing, and maintenance of his family house and garden.
