I have been working at the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice as an academic employee since 2002. I am a qualified educator and a children ` s nurse.
My profession of a children` s nurse goes hand in hand with my teaching of paediatric nursing, my part-time job at the children` s department of the Hospital of Pardubice Region and participation in the project Close Cooperation with Parents, aimed at a close, partner-like collaboration between medical staff and parents of prematurely born babies and at applying the principles of Family Centred Care in practice. In this project I have acted as a mentor of nurses and doctors at the ICU.
I have concerned myself with mentoring in health care for many years now. I have participated in the development of mentoring in practical trainings of our students and in creating a certified course for mentors. I have been a long-term lecturer of mentors, preparing them for their work. I am very happy that the mentoring programme has been introduced to the University of Pardubice and I would like to do my part in its successful development.
At the faculty I teach nursing care and medical psychology, for health care professionals I conduct courses of communication with patients. In my research I deal with the psychological, social and spiritual aspects of nursing care, quality and safety of nursing care. I am interested in using the patient `s life story in nursing care. I prefer qualitative research.
I can offer long-term experience with leading students or new employees at the faculty, patience, empathy, fairness, ability to listen and not to give advice which is uncalled for.
My favourite hobbies are gardening, flower arrangements and herbs. I grow herbs, harvest them, dry, preserve, mix and distribute under the brand name Eva `s herbs. I like reading, walking, cycling, skiing (although I am not very good at it), I do yoga and Pilates, listen to music and to people ` s life stories.
